Mr Smith’s (Get Well Soon) Corner

Our resident contributor, father of four and high-flying partner, Mr Smith, gives us his thoughts for the week…

Welcome to a very special corner. This week Mrs S and myself are testing ‘health and happiness’ to the limits. We’re in the intensive care unit at the children’s hospital following No.2 son’s open heart surgery!

No.2 son and Mrs S have been legend. I have largely been an emotional wreck on the inside and not much better on the outside. The doctors and nurses here do such an amazing job it makes me feel embarrassed!

Pacing the corridor. Not sure if that is in the 2016 Rio Olympics but I think there is a good chance I have met the qualifying time and distance.

Lessons learnt:

I am not sure where to start given the roller coaster of the last 48 hrs. So I took some advice…
The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” Buddha
Looking forward to getting the little man back in his monster slippers sooooon!
