Japanese tapas, discovering design & babies get Nimble

This week I will be:

  • feasting on some beautifully crafted Japanese tapas at Kirazu on Rupert Street, Soho. This blink-and-you’ll-miss-it hole in the wall restaurant has a lovely homely feel to it. Trendy in its simplicity, it more than lives up to its motto of using ‘traditional techniques to deliver healthy Japanese tapas’. Chef Yuya Kikuchi (holding court behind a bar covered with the daily specials) serves a standard menu and supplements this with a large selection of seasonal creations. Everything we tried was delicious with particular standouts being the blue crabmeat and fish roe, and the seaweed salad.
  • discovering some great new brands and shops at Design Junction as part of the week-long London Design Festival. Highlights included – buying a beautiful and simple ‘boyfriend’ watch from Swedish watch company VOID, discovering that bunnies can fly (and also DJ and do yoga) in the world of H A M (the creations of very talented Joanna Ham) and realising that receiving a surprise gift in the post every month really is a great idea at Not-Another-Bill (yes, I would like a subscription for Christmas please!).

  • Admiring our family friend, Von Sy, for creating great new company Nimble Babies which specialises in cleaning products for on-the-go mums and dads. After two years of research, Nimble Babies have just launched their first product which is a gentle and more effective cleaner to get rid of milk residue in bottles and they have more products lined up to help make cleaning more effective, fast and easy for parents! Nimble Babies products are online on Amazon and in shops in Nappy Valley.
